Presentation Guidelines

Oral Guidelines

Presentation Times

  • Plenary presentations are 45 minutes long, including 40 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
  • Invited presentations are 30 minutes long, including 25 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
  • Contributed presentations are 15 minutes long, including 12 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions and discussion.
Audio-Visual Setup

The conference room will be set up with a screen, microphone, LCD projector, laser pointer, and two presentation laptops (one PC and one MAC).  Please bring a copy of your presentation on a flash drive and load your presentation on to one of these computers (PC or MAC) during a session break prior to the start of your session.  Please note that PowerPoint is the recommended presentation software.  Note that MIOMD staff will permanently delete all completed presentations from the presentation computers during the following break.

Poster Guidelines

Poster presenters are requested to be present at (or near) their poster during the Monday 5:00 PM poster session. Boards will be available for presenters to mount their posters on Monday starting at 7:30 AM. Please plan to put up your poster as early as possible since the breakfast and breaks will be held in the poster room, thus providing attendees a chance to see your poster before the poster session. Posters must be removed by 3:30 PM on Wednesday. Please note that we cannot take responsibility for any posters left on the boards after this time.

The space available for your poster is approximately 4 feet high by 4 feet wide on one half of a 4 x 8 poster board.  Your poster needs to be sized a bit smaller than 48 inches on a side for easy mounting to the board.  The poster boards are made from cork or similar material capable of accepting mounting tacks. The MIOMD staff will have tacks set out near your poster board for mounting your work.  A sign with your program number and presenter will be placed at the location where you are to display your work. When preparing your poster presentation, please include the title of your presentation, the author listing, and program number.
